Activities

Various activities for school health examination -

1. Preparatory activities like enumeration of students, procurement of drugs, cards etc. start usually during June/July of every year before actual campaign.
2. Communication to Schools for enumerating students and preparing information on height, weight and chest circumference of students by teachers and Health staff in that area.
3. Preparing School health checkup calendar by fixing suitable dates and identifying Health Checkups teams to ensure 100% students' checkup.
4. For specialists’ care/operations of cases with major defects
5. Guidelines on General cleanliness, care of hair, nails, daily bathing, washing hands before and after meals, washing hands after defecation, etc. are given to students in each class by teachers and by health workers during their visit to that school
6. Recording of details of examination and abnormal findings, if any, alongwith treatment given/referral made etc, is done on student Health checkup cards.
7. Referral chits for the needy students are given to the teachers indicating name & institution and dates of specialist care. The referral chits are either can be transferred to parents or the students referral has to be taken care by the school authorities
8. Follow up of students who are given treatment locally.
9. Ensure about
a) the referred students to attend the identified Referral institute
b) students are examined and necessary management is arranged.
10. Needy students are transferred to District level / Medical College level hospitals / specialty clinics for expert opinion or surgery like operations for Heart defects, undescended testis, Hernia, Orthopaedic problem etc.

Maintaining records/reports & submitting necessary reports to higher authorities.
