About the Project/ Scheme
World Bank Assisted Malaria Control Project
To intensify malaria control activities World Bank Assisted Enhanced
Malaria Control Project has been started since Oct. 1997.
District Malaria Control Societies have been established and registered
for 16 tribal Districts in the State. Various Anti Malarial activities
are being carried out through these District Malaria Control Societies.
Funds are provided to these District Malaria Control Societies directly
from Govt. Of India. Main components of the Enhanced Malaria Control
Project are as under-
Early detection, prompt treatment.
Selective vector control.
Indoor Residual Spraying in rural area.
Anti-larval spraying on the mosquito breeding
places in selected urban areas under Urban Malaria Scheme.
Under Biological Control activity creation of
Hatcheries and introduction of Guppy fish in suitable breeding
places in urban and rural areas.
Personal Protection Method
Distribution of Medicated Mosquito Nets in selected
villages.
Training / workshops for different cadres.
Supply of materials and equipments such as vehicles,
microscopes etc.
For more effective implementation of Enhanced
Malaria Control Project State Malaria Control Society is established.
Secretary, Public Health Department is Chairman, Director General,
Health Services is Vice Chairman and Joint Director (Malaria
& Filaria) is Member Secretary of State Malaria Control
Society.
Epidemiological situation of malaria of Maharashtra State since 1961 is
enclosed herewith.
Staff under State Malaria Control Society
Except the post of IEC Consultant, all the necessary posts suggested for
SMCS have been filled.
Funding Pattern
Funds were directly provided to the District Malaria Societies directly
from Government of India before establishment of State Malaria Control
Society.
Maintenance of funds
As per the administrative and financial guidelines issued by Government
of India.
Till today funds were provided to District Malaria Control Society as
per their demand.
Overall budget for the project is prepared for the seven states in the
country by National Anti Malaria Programme, Government of India. And as
per the demands they release funds to DMCS.
