| Signs
and Symptoms
The most common symptoms of pulmonary TB is a persistent cough
for two weeks or more, usually with expectoration. It may be
accompanied by one or more of the following symptoms:-
· Fever, particularly with rise of temperature in the evening
· Loss of appetite
· Weight loss
· Night sweats
· Breathlessness
· Fatigue
· Chest pain
· Hemoptysis
A person with extra-pulmonary TB may have symptoms related to
the organs affected in addition to the general symptoms of fever and loss of appetite for example :
· Swelling of lymph nodes, occasionally with discharge
of pus
· Pain and swelling of the joints, if involved.
· Headache, fever, stiffness of the neck and mental confusion
when the brain or meninges are involved.
